I am a Robot!

It was bad enough having to decipher one word to enter a message when visiting a blog but now, to 'prove we are not a robot' (what!!) we have to type two words copied from some scrypt.
Sometimes the words are so obscure with overlapping letters in fake, blotchy handwriting that it's taken me three attempts to get it right! It puts me off making a comment and sometimes if I get it wrong I give up and don't bother to send the message.
Why do we have to do this?
Every blogger gets the chance to moderate each of their messages so if some come in as 'spam' they don't have to approve them, they can be deleted.
Sorry to spout off but I was just enjoying reading some of my favourite blogs until I struggled to leave a message twice in a row.

  1. I totally agree with you on this Gill, it's been driving me mad!!! It takes me ages to get it right and ten times longer to leave comments!!!
I have no idea why we have to do this, there is just no logical explanation!!!

  3. I agree, it's much more difficult to leave a comment and can be very frustrating. Many people have changed their settings to not require it. I believe most would rather risk an unwanted message getting through than risk missing out on one that they want.

  6. Thanks Anda, I understand what you are saying. It is possible to change the setting to avoid these verification words. You are still able to astop spam appearing on your blog comments if you tick the box to moderate comments before publishing.
Meapuntoatodo explains this very well on her blog.

  7. I deactivated this setting on my blog. Go to design, click on settings, click on comments, then scroll down to word verification and click no.

  8. I did't know that I had that option in use. When you make a comment as a owner of the blog you don't have to identify your self so I didn't know. I'm going to take it of immediately. I also find it very annoying.
